Founder of the Amelia Dronehart group Rhianna Lakin captures amazing footage of the currently erupting Mt. Sinabung in North Sumatra, Indonesia.  Rhianna has been traveling Indonesia with her two children just short of two months, collecting footage of temples, landscape, jungle and monuments. She was staying just outside of Gunung Leuser National Park when she heard the news about the mountain being placed on the highest alert, she made the 6 hour journey to the roaring mountain with her DJI Phantom Vision Plus quadcopter to capture Mother Natures show.

 

Chasing the Volcano

 

Mount Sinabung, is one of about 130 active volcanoes in Indonesia, the mountain has been dormant for the past 400 years, in 2010 catching scientist off guard the “sleeping giant” awoke. Since then it has erupted sporadically and on June 2nd was raised to the highest alert this month at least 48 avalanches of hot ash barreled down its slopes, with the biggest reaching 2.5 kilometers (1.5 miles) southeast. it has also been shooting smoke and ash more than 700 meters (2,300 feet) into the air. Thousands have been displaced since 2010 and authorities are requesting all villagers with in 7km evacuate.
